Multiplication Quiz on 3 and 4 times tables Friday for Grades 3 and 4s. Thank you, Mrs. Tso Dear Parents,
Welcome to Term 2. Students have been extremely busy, working hard every minute of the day! In Language arts, we are working on grammar booklets, specifically learning how to use word order in sentences and how to write proper sentences using subjects and predicates, as well as correct punctuation. They are practicing this in their Journals. We continue to work on our weekly spelling units. In Math, we are currently learning multiplication, as equal groups and repeated addition. This week, students will be quizzed on their 2 times tables. Each week, they will be quizzed on the next number, ie. 3 times tables until we reach 10 and then they will have weekly pop quizzes of mixed times tables. Please help your child study. Our goal is for all students to have their times tables memorized. This will serve as a strong foundation for years to come. Grade 4s have completed their unit on increasing and decreasing patterns, and using T charts. They have begun their unit on fractions. Grade 4s will also be quizzed on their times tables. In Socials, we are working on publishing our individual research projects into "books". Students are writing their facts in complete sentences, as we continue to learn about the life and culture of The First Peoples. In Science, students are learning about biodiversity through studying habitats and ecosystems. In PE, students are enjoying gymnastics, which will continue until the end of next week. Our class has begun using the new laptops generously funded by PAC. Students continue to learn very important typing skills. Later, we will using the laptops to do Socials and Science research, with the 3rd term goal of having students publish a piece of work. Students are also enjoying engaging in drama with Arts Umbrella, thanks again to PAC. FIELD TRIP FORMS will be sent home in the next day or two after we finalize any funding we receive from ours, and PAC's fundraising support. Please check your child's backpack for this important permission form. Our field trip to GROUSE MOUNTAIN is ON FEBRUARY 1ST. Please let me know if your child will not be attending, for any reason. We will be snowshoeing, visiting a First Nations house, and be engaging in a workshop connected to our study of biodiversity. Thank you for your continued support of our school programs. Warm Regards, Mrs. Tso |
